Sethuraman wins, Ramesh draws at Dubai Open
Dubai, Apr 29 (UNI) S P Sethuraman outsmarted Kazakh Woman Grandmaster Maria Sargeeva in the sixth round and moved to the joint fourth spot as Indians made their mark at the 40,000 dollar Dubai International Open Chess championship here.
Grandmaster R B Ramesh forced fancied Iranian GM Ghaem Maghami Ehsan to split points while prodigious Parimarjan Negi stamped authority over fellow Indian M R Lalith Babu.
International Master Abhijeet Gupta also outmanoeuvred Iraniam A M Soozankar.
Meanwhile, former World Junior Champion Darmen Sadvakasov of Kazakhstan pipped Ukranian GM Evgenij Miroshnichenko to move into the sole lead with 5.5 points. Armenian duo of Gabriel Sargissian and Tigran Petrosian, GM Girogi Kacheishvili of Georgia and GM Sergey Fedorchuk of Ukraine, share the second spot with five points each.
Top seed GM Zviad Izoria of Georgia, India's Ramesh and Vishal Sareen were third 4.5 points each.
Parimarjan Negi, Abhijeet Gupta, Sethuraman, IM S Satyapragyan and Women IM Kruttika Nadig with four points each were at joint fourth on the leaderboard.
