Second Challenger Chess Academy chess festival from May 1-31

Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) The second Challenger Chess Academy Chess Festival will be held here from May 1 to May 31 and will be inaugurated by Grand Master Pravin Thipsay.

The festival, which began last year is being sponsored by Ameya Infotainment Pvt Ltd and is recognised by the Bombay Chess Association, a release issued here today stated.

Sanjiv Joshi, the event co-ordinator of the festival stated that it will be organised in three stages - Open Category, Age group events and final play off session.

He further stated that the Open category events would be held from May 1 to 7, while the under-8 age group category between May 7-9, under-10 category from May 11 to 13, under-12 category from May 14 to 16, under-14 from May 17 to 19, and under-18 category between May 22-24.

Top 10 players along with top 10 international rated players will directly qualify for the final play off session which will be held from May 25 to 31 and will be played over nine rounds with the Swiss League system, the release further stated.
