Rahul willing to take up any post after sufficient leg work

Rae Bareli, Apr 29 (UNI) Congress MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi today reiterated that he was ready to take up any post in the party structure after doing sufficient leg work.

Interacting with reporters here after addressing a street meeting in Dipramau village, Mr Gandhi said since he was '' a soldier, he would only follow the orders of party generals''.

He said if the party leaders entrusted him with any responsibility he would accept it.

''Role does not imply position...I might not have any formal position but am still working for the people,'' Mr Gandhi said.

He denied that the UPCC was in a limbo and appreciated the work done by UP Congress president Salman Khurshid.

To a question on Mr Khurshid failing to form the Congress committees in the past 18 months, Mr Gandhi said such things take some time.

He said the organisational set up of the Congress was ''pretty decent'' in Rae Bareli and Amethi and added he has been urging his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to visit Rae Bareli during the bypolls. ''She has agreed and will be coming soon,'' he added Incidentally, AICC president Sonia Gandhi had yesterday appointed Ms Vadrs as her election agent for the May eight Rae Bareli bypolls.

With this, Mr Gandhi will take care of his mother's poll campaign while Ms Vadra will look after the administrative work connected with the election, including selection of booth and counting agents.

During the 2004 general elections, Ms Vadra who the election agent as well as the campaigner for Ms Gandhi.
