Orissa Labour Minister tenders resignation to the CM

Bhubaneswar, Apr 29 (UNI) Orissa Minister of State for Labour and Employment Pradeep Nayak today tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, for submitting a false affidavit while filing nomination papers during the 2004 Assembly elections.

Mr Nayak, who had handed over his resignation to BJP State Secretary Panchanan Rout early in the day, later went to the State Secretariat along with Rural Development Minister B B Harichandan and Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal and submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister.

The minister was accused of submitting false affidavit on four criminal cases pending against him during the filing of nomination papers in 2004 Assembly Elections from Bhawanipatna Assembly constituency.

BJP Legislative Party leader B B Harichandan later told newspersons that four criminal cases were pending against Mr Nayak during the filing of nomination but he was not aware of the cases.

He said there was no pressure from the Chief Minister to resign but the BJP decided to should quit the post on moral grounds.

The BJP leader further said that there would be no imbalance in the ministry and the government was functioning in right direction.
