Nischol and brother arrested for suicide of actor's wife

Mumbai, Apr 28 (UNI) Bollywood actor Navin Nischol and his brother Pravin were arrested late tonight here after a marathon grilling in connection with the suicide by Geetanjali Nischol on April 22.

The duo were called for interrogation this morning. However, since they were not able to give satisfactory answers to the questions posed, they were arrested at 2200 hrs today.

They have been arrested under section 306 (abetting to commit suicide) and 498 (dowry) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Navin Nischol's wife Geetanjali had committed suicide on April 22 at her residence in Mahim. In her suicide note, she stated that she had taken this drastic step because she was fed up of Navin's ''alcoholism'' and that he would often quarrel with her.

She had also mentioned Pravin's name in her suicide note.

The duo would be produced in the Metropolitan Court tomorrow.
