Lanco Institutes awards to honour models
Hyderabad, Apr 29 (UNI) LANCO group, a Hyderabad-headquartered leading corporate business house, today instituted LANCO awards to honourable models, who make a difference and inspire others to replicate their successes.
After formally instituting the awards at Hyderabad today, the Congress MP from Vijayawada , L Rajagopal, who is also the Chairman of LANCO Institute of General Humanitarian Trust (LIGHT), said that these National Awards would be presented every year ''to individuals or institutions working with commitment in their respective fields towards betterment of society''.
Five awards will be presented each year from specified categories like Education, Health Care, Law, Justice&Humand Rights, Public Awareness&Advocacy and Leadership, Public Service and Community Development.
The award will consist of a trophy and a citation, besides cash of Rs five Lakh for each category.
''The LANCO Awards will follow systematic, objective and transparent process of selection to ensure that adds prestige, honour and dignity to both awardees and awards'', he added.
L Madhusudhan Rao, Chairman, LANCO Group and Trustee of LIGHT said these awards will be of ''National Stature'' and the nomination forms were being sent across the country to Vice Chancellors of Universities, Members of Parliament, Governors, Chief Ministers, Senior Bureaucrats, Professors, Judges of Supreme Court and High Courts and also to Indian Embassies and Indian Associations.
'' We would be seeking nominations of people, who in their opinion deserved the National Awards'', he added.
LANCO, presently an asset base of more than USD 500 million and an annual turnover of more than USD 300 million, had established LIGHT in 2004 as part of its corporate social responsibility.
