Kuldip Nayar calls for new press commission
New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) Veteran journalist and former Parliamentarian Kuldip Nayar today called for establishment of a media commission to look into the state of affairs in both print and electronic media.
Delivering a keynote address on the occassion of 57th Foundation Day of the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ), he said the last press commission was appointed 29 years ago.
DUJ celebrated the day by discussing the present challenges before the Indian Press.
Speakers cautioned against the danger of coercive contracts and increasing unfair labour practices even in the capital city.
Taking serious note of increasing encroachments of freedom of expression and association in the industry, they called for a White paper on the state of newspaper industry.
