Kubot, Troicki enter finals; Slovakians win doubles title

Dharwad, Apr 29 (UNI) Slovakians Kamil Capkovic and Lukas Lacko combined well to beat Thailand's Ratiwatana brothers -- Sanchai and Sonchat -- to lift the doubles title while Serb Victor Troicki and Lukasz Kubot from Poland won their respective semifinal bouts to set up a title clash at the PVG Cup Dharwad Open ATP Men's Challenger Tennis tourney here.

Slovakians Kamil Capkovic and Lukas Lacko gelled together to defeat Sanchai and Sonchat 6-3, 7-5 in the doubles final today.

Capkovic and Lukas dominated the play throughout, though at times Ratiwatanas did excel. Ratiwatanas were broken in the sixth game of the first set and that gave their opponents the much needed lead.

In the second set, both held their service till the 11th game.

Ratiwatanas lost their service in the 11th giving the Slovakians 6-5 lead and Lukas hammered fierce services to clinch the issue 7-5.

Capkovic and Lacko were richer by 1500 dollars, while Ratiwatanas had to be content with 900 dollars.

In the semifinals, Kubot from Poland ousted top seed Korea's Taik Hyung Lee in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 while Victor Troicki trounced Taipei's Hsun Yen Lee 6-1, 6-1.

The match between Korea's Lee and fourth seed Kubot provided good tennis to the spectators. Though Lee unleashed some of the finest shots, he was not able to convert them into points. He surrendered after a 85-minute battle.

In the other match, Troicki did not allow his Taipei opponent Hsun Yen Lee an upperhand at any stage and took just one hour to win the match and set up a title clash with Kubot.

Results: Singles Semifinals: Lukasz Kubot (Poland) bt Taik Hyung Lee (Korea) 6-3, 6-2: Victor Troicki (SCG) bt Hsun Yen Lu(TPE) N6-1, 6-1.

Doubles Finals: Kamil Capkovic/ Lukas Lacko (Slovakia) bt Sonchat/Sanchai Ratiwatana (Thailand) 6-3, 7-5.
