Intelligence failure responsible for Maoist attack: Congress

Patna, Apr 29 (UNI) The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president sadanand Singh today said the Maoist attack at the bank and police Station in Jandaha was the result of intelligence and administrative failure.

Expressing concern over the incident, Mr Singh alleged the manner in which the extremists had attacked Jandaha town indicated abject failure of the intelligence and state administration.

He said the Maoists were warning public on loudspeakers to remain indoors as long as their operation continued.

''Morale of the extremists are high during the NDA rule in Bihar and they are engaged in criminal activities without any fear from the state administration,'' Mr Singh said.

About 100 activists of the CPI(Maoist) attacked Jandaha locality of Vishali district last night and terrorised people with indiscriminate firing. The ultras also tried to loot firearms from the local police station. They also tried to loot local branch of the Canara bank.

Mr Singh also condemed the incident of looting of Rs 25 lak from the main post office of Madhubani.

The demanded the state government to convene an all- party meeting and seek suggestion from the opposition in order to check the increasing Maoists and criminal activities in the state.
