India despatches high level team to Afghanistan on kidnapping

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) India tonight despatched a high level team of experts to Afghanistan to establish contact with all concerned parties and secure the safe and early release of Indian Telecom Engineer K Suryanarayan who was kidnapped by the Taliban yesterday.

A Ministry of External Affairs spokesman said the team led by Joint Secretary in the ministry K B S Katoch who has been sent to assist the India embassy in Kabul in dealing with the hostage crisis.

The team which includes officials with experience in dealing with similar situations in the past has been ''authortised to establish comtacts with all concerned parties through appropriate channels to secure the dafe and early release of Mr Suryanarayan.
