Focus on agriculture for development of Meghalaya district

Shillong, Apr 29 (UNI) The Meghalaya State Planning Board has asked the officials of the South Garo Hills District to focus on agriculture and allied services for development of the economy of the district.

Chairman of the planning board and former Chief Minister Salseng C Marak made the plea at a review meeting with the officials at Baghmara on Thursday.

The meeting took stock of the progress of the developmental schemes in the district.

He called upon the officials to be active in implementation of various developmental schemes and also in solving the problems faced by the people, a government release said here today.

Deputy Chairman of the planning board Mr A H Scott Lyngdoh said the district of South Garo Hills, being in the remotest part of the state needed special attention.

Deputy Commissioner of the district Mrs R D Marak was also present at the review meeting.
