Export zone to be set up in Bihar: Jayram Ramesh

Patna, Apr 29 (UNI) Union Commerce Minister V.Jayram Ramesh today said the government would set up an export zone in Bihar to boost exports from the state.

Mr Ramesh, accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, told newspersons here that the Centre would extend financial assistance for setting up export zones.

He said the Centre had decided to establish handloom clusters in Bhagalpur for which Rs 2 crores had already been sanctioned to the state. Such cluster would also be set up in three other districts, including Gaya, Madhubani and Nalanda.

'Patna Haat,' (Market) for handicraft, handlooms, cottage industries would be set up in a year in the state capital, he said adding that the state government has assured to provide 2 acres of land for the project.

The Madhubani paintings declared as 'mastercraft' by the Centre would also get a market in the Patna 'haat'.
