Deluge of marriages in Delhi on Akshay Tritiya

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) The capital will tomorrow witness a deluge of marriages, on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, despite the city witnessing a scarcity of marriage venues.

Almost all the 179 community halls of the MCD have been booked for tomorrow, corporation sources said.

With the Delhi High court earlier this year ordering closure of all banquet halls in residential areas, the only place for marriage is community halls.

Weddings held on the Akshay Tritiya day are believed to bring good fortune and luck.

On this occasion, the Prajapati Mahasabha Delhi Pradesh is organising a programme of mass marriages. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will be the chief guest while social welfare minister Yoganand Shastri will be a special guest.
