Brail facility for blind to vote

Pondicherry, Apr 29 (UNI) For the first time in the union territory, the election commission has introduced the brail facility to enable the blind to exercise their franchise in the May 8 Assembly Elections.

A brail chart (dummy ballot paper) with the name and number of the candidate will be made available to blind and the number would be there on electronic voting machine to be used by the blind persons, district Election Commission officer and District Collector Theva Neethidas told press persons here today.

The facility is being provided at 54 booths in Lawspet constiteuncy and in 26 in Cottucherry in Karaikal region.
