Berlusconi to quit on Tuesday-source at PM's office

ROME, Apr 29 (Reuters) Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who narrowly lost this month's general election, will resign as prime minister on Tuesday, an official at the Prime Minister's Office said today.

The official told Reuters that Berlusconi would formally tell his cabinet he was resigning at a meeting on Tuesday morning and immediately after that he would go to the palace of President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi to tender his resignation.
