AP achieves 51 per cent growth rate in IT exports

Hyderabad, Apr 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh has retained the highest growth rate among the states in the country, achieving more than 51 per cent growth over last year's exports, state IT secretary Ms K Ratna Prabha said today.

Addressing the press here, Mr Ratna said the state has achieved 51 per cent growth rate against a national average growth rate of 36 per cent. The exports of the IT industry from the state was Rs 12,521 crore compared to the last year's exports of Rs 8,270 crore.

'This was possible mainly because of organic growth of major IT companies in addition to the newly added companies started reckoning exports', she added.

Stating that five additional IT parks were added that would meet the growing infrastructure requirements of the industry during this year, Mr Ratna said Rs 1760 crore have been invested from the newly registered units, which included Rs 768 crore from foreign companies, Rs 147 crore from Indian companies and Rs 845 crore from IT parks in 2005-06.
