SBI cheated of Rs 18.60 lakh during strike
Jamnagar, Apr 28 (UNI) The State Bank of India (SBI) has lodged a complaint with the police against five people who cheated the bank's main branch to the tune of Rs 18.60 lakh by allegedly withdrawing money in instaliments on bogus warrants.
SBI chief manager Nimesh Bakul Pandit filed a complaint to this effect today against - Amarchand Lakhan Sharma of Paravinagar (Maharashtra), Imran Siddique of Kanpur (UP) and three others.
Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat, who has initiated an investigation into the case, said the incident took place during the SBI strike early this month.
The accused allegedly withdrew money on bogus warrants after depositing the money in the account of Super Tannery company during the last few months.
Mr Bhagat said the case came to light when the bank staff suspected some foul play during a scrutiny of the payments.
