London bomb plot suspects due in court
LONDON, Apr 28: A group of men were due in court today accused of plotting to carry out bomb attacks on London's transport system last July two weeks after suicide bombers struck in the capital, killing 52 commuters.
Four men are charged with trying to detonate bombs on three underground trains and a bus on July 21, mimicking the deadly attacks by four British Muslim militants two weeks earlier.
Muktar Ibrahim, Ramzi Mohamed, Yassin Omar, and Hussain Osman, are all charged with attempted murder and possessing explosives.
They are due at London's Old Bailey criminal court today here they are expected to enter a plea on charges of attempted murder and possessing explosives.
Two other suspected plotters are due to join them in court.
Manfu Asiedu, who was arrested over the discovery of a suspected bomb in a rucksack at a west London park on July 23, is accused of conspiring to murder and cause an explosion.
A sixth man, Adel Yahya, held by detectives at London's Heathrow Airport last December after stepping off a plane from Ethiopia, is charged with conspiring to cause an explosion.
Eleven other suspects, who are accused of failing to disclose to police information about one or more of the defendants, are also scheduled to appear in court, some by video link.
