British wanted to divide India into parts: Advani
Ujjain, MP, Apr 28 (UNI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani today claimed that the British had made a policy to divide the country into fragments before departing but could not succeed due to a personality like Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
Mr Advani, who was here as a part of his Bharat Suraksha Yatra, told a public gathering that the British had left some part of the country to the Congress and some to the Muslim League after independence of 'Akhand Bharat (undivided India)'.
He said the Maharajas and Rajas of Gwalior, Jaipur, Udaipur and other states had included their states in independent India but the Nawab of Junagadh intended to include his state into Pakistan.
However, his plans were foiled by Sardar Patel and Junagdah's public.
Mr Advani said Sardar Patel played an important role in incorporating all the states in India within three years after independence.
The BJP leader said the Leftists did not support Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's polices, while vote-bank politics was a big problem for the country. The Congress considered Bangladeshi infiltrators as its voters.
