20 Asian Tour winners in fray for Aamby Valley Masters

New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Rahil Gangjee, Harmeet Kahlon, Gaurav Ghei and Amandeep Johl will lead the Indian challenge among as many as 20 winners from the Asian Tour, who would vie for thetop honours at the inaugural 400,000-dollar Aamby Valley Asian Masters golf tournament to be held in Mumbai from May 11 to 14.

Vijay Kumar (2002 Indian Open champion), Feroz Ali (1998 Indian Open winner), Ali Sher (1991 and 1993 Indian Open champion) and Mukesh Kumar will also be in the fray alongwith Dugvijay Singh.

The event would make the winner richer by 63,400 dollars.

Leading the international charge would be Australian powerhouse Terry Pilkadaris, a three-time Asian Tour winner who has been ranked inside the top-five of the Order of Merit for the past two seasons.

Pilkadaris has won a title in every season since his double victory in China in 2004.

Canadian veteran Rick Gibson, Korean-born American Anthony Kang and Australians Marcus Both and Jason Dawes would also tee off in the tournament.

Some of Asia's finest young talents will also challenge for honours including Thai sensation Chinarat Phadungsil, compatriots Chapchai Nirat and Filipino Angelo Que, who toppled two-time Asian number one Thongchai Jaidee to lift the Carlsberg Masters Vietnam in 2004. Other big names include Korea's Mo Joong-kyung, Malaysia's Danny Chia and the American duo of Clay Devers and Andrew Pitts.

The Aamby Valley Asian Masters is the 13th leg of this season's Asian Tour Schedule.

The Aamby Valley City Golf Course had hosted the Indian season-ending Indian PGA Championships last year, which was worth 100,000 dollars.
