Star-studded Sahara win rubber in Sheesh Mahal Cricket tourney
Lucknow, Apr 27 (UNI) Star-studded Sahara India beat low keyed Uttar Pradesh Police Sports Control Board (UPPSCB) by 135 runs in the Group 'B' match of the 'Sahara City Homes' All India Sheesh Mahal Cricket Championship here today.
Meanwhile at the Chowk Stadium, Indian Airlines overcame Mini Mount Ice-Cream Noida by a huge margin of nine wickets.
For Sahara India, former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir (71) displayed his class treating Police team bowlers with disdain.
Another international star J P Yadav, who was declared man of the match for his breazy 62 runs and a wicket, entertained the spectators.
Sahara made 258 runs losing eight wickets. M P Singh claimed four wickets at the expense of 47 runs for Policemen.
In reply, the Police team failed to tackle the hostile bowling of right-arm medium pacer Ranadeb Bose (3/25), who is knocking the doors of Indian team.
The Police team were bundled out for 123 -- 135 runs short of target with Amit Mathur (26) being their top scorer.
At the Chowk Stadium, Ishan Ganda (4/19) freezed the innings of Mini Mount Ice Cream in 38 overs for 129. He was well assisted by Arun Pandey and Ajit Chandela claiming two wickets apiece.
Ravneet Rickey (77 not out), alongwith Mahesh Rawat (32 not out), reached the victory target for Indian Airlines-- their second wicket undefeated partnership yeilded 95 runs. Mritunjay Tripathi claimed the lone wicket for Mini Mount.
