People take to streets after death of police constable in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 27 (UNI) People at Aragam in north Kashmir today took to the streets in protest against the death of a police constable allegedly in firing by security forces last night.

Official sources said hundreds of peoples, mostly women and children, today took to the streets at Aragamm, Bandipora, protesting against the security forces.

The demonstrators, who blocked traffic and observed total shut down, alleged that security forces last night resorted to indiscriminate firing on a police vehicle resulting in on the spot death of costable Nazir Ahmad and injuries to another constable.

They alleged a police party had come to village after villagers had lodged a complaint that security forces posted in the area were harassing locals.

Senior police and civil officials have rushed to the area, the sources added.
