NGO issues notice to Chief Justice of Bombay High Court

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) A Mumbai-based NGO today issued a legal notice to the Chief Justice and Registrar General of Bombay High Court, challenging the circular issued by the court denying information under the Right to Information Act, 2005.

The notice issued by the National Campaign for People's Right to Information, an NGO, claimed that Mr Sailesh Gandhi and Mr Sanjiv Chimbulkar (members of the NGO) had filed an application on December 13 last year under the Act, requesting for information on adjournments in different cases during the last two years.

While the applicants were directed to check with the High Court website for the information they had sought, they found it unavailable.

Meanwhile, they came across a circular passed by the court on February 15 which they said sought to avoid the implementation of the provisions of the Act, prompting them to take the legal recource.
