Mir wins Assembly by-election from Rafiabad in Kashmir

Baramulla, Apr 27 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Mohammad Dilawar Mir won the Assembly by-election from Rafiabad seat, defeating his nearest National Conference (NC) candidate Advocate Mohammad Maqbool Mir by a margin of 8559 votes.

Mr Mir polled 28,138 votes against Advocate Mir's 19,479 votes.

Mr Mir retained the seat. However, he had won from the segment on the NC ticket in 2002 elections. He later resigned from the NC and the seat.
