MHADA officials sent to police custody till April 29
Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court today sent MHADA office 'tehsilar' and head clerk who were arrested while accepting bribe to police custody till April 29.
ACB sleuths produced Maharashtra Housing Area and Development Authority (MHADA) office, Bandra East tehsildar Sanjay Ahire (43) and head clerk Satyavan Laman Sarang (45) before ACB Judge S P Mahajan this afternoon, who granted their police custody.
According to ACB, both the officials had demanded money from the complainant, Shridhar Suvarna, to provide a non-objection certificate (NOC) to him for his shop on Andheri-Kurla road, which comes under road widening project.
On January 27, they issued a notice to Suvarna to bring all the documents pertaining to his shop, prior to 1995. On April 8, they again issued a notice and asked him to produce all the documents within 24 hours of receiving the letter, failing which his shop will be treated as illegal and appropriate action would be taken.
After the verification of the documents, the duo told Suvarna that he will be provided an alternate shop at Poonam Nagar in Jogeshwari suburb. Then they demanded a bribe amount of Rs 15,000 to get a NOC and later agreed for Rs 7,000.
On the basis of the complaint ACB sleuth laid a trap in the MHADA office and caught the duo red-handed yesterday.
