India offers training, drugs to SAARC nations to tackle AIDS

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) India has offered help to the SAARC nations in training their medical and para-medical personnel in HIV/AIDS treatment and provide them drugs and equipment.

The offer was made by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaaka Lakshmi during the third conference of the SAARC Health Ministers in Dhaka.

The two-day conference, which concluded yesterday, also formally launched the SSRC Regional strategy on HIV/AIDS.

The conference deliberated on the control of HIV/AIDS and Avian Influenza.

Ms Lakshmi called on her Bangladeshi counterpart Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain today to discuss bilateral health-related issues.
