India, New Zealand sign air service agreement

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The cabinet today gave its approval for signing an Air Services Agreement between India and New Zealand.

An official spokesperson said after the cabinet meeting that each country will have the right to designate an airline or airlines for the purpose of operating the agreed services on each of the routes and to withdraw or alter such designations.

Also, either party can revoke, suspend or limit the operating authorisation or technical permission of an airline designated by the other party where substantial ownership and effective control of that airline are not vested in other party.

Either of the two countries can suspend the services after an airline fails to comply with the laws, regulations and rules under Article 5(application of laws) of the agreement.

It can also be revoked on the grounds that the other party is not maintaining and administering the standards as set forth in Article 6 (safety) of the agreement.

The agreement also states that either party may request consultation concerning the safety standards mainatined in respect of an airline designated by the other party relating to aeronautical facilities, aircrews, aircraft and operations of the designated airlines.

Each party reserves the right to suspend, or limit the operating authorisation or technical permission of an airlines or airlines designated by the other party.

The airlines of each country shall have the right to establish offices in the territory of the other party for the promotion and sale of air services.
