HC directs SP to appear before it
Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) The AP High Court directed Superintendent of Police, West Godavari District, to appear before the court on June seven, 2006, to explain how his department was dealing with private complaints and why police was getting involving in civil disputes.
Justice Goda Raghuram passed the order on a writ petition filed by Gogu Dharmalinga Prasad, saying that though he had filed a complaint cognizable in nature, Sri Lakshminarayana Rao, Sub-Inspector of Police, Bhimavaram I Town, did not register the FIR.
The SI instead asked him and his relatives to enter into a compromise with the alleged offender.
He also filed a counter affidavit in the High Court with 'false' averments and gave two different versions in the Remand Case Diary prepared for the arrest of the accused, Dharma Linga Prasad. He stated that he had examined only five witnesses, while in the counter affadavit before the High Court, he said he examined eight witnesses.
The Judge, after examining the counter affidavit vis-a-vis the Remand Case Diary, observed that the SI's role was suspicious and it required further examination. He adjourned the case to June seven.
