Former minister Mustafa Kamal wins Pattan seat in Kashmir
Baramulla, Apr 27 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir minister Dr Mustafa Kamal of National Conference (NC) won the Pattan assembly seat today, defeating his nearest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari by over 2500 votes.
Mr Kamal, brother of former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah wrested the seat from Ansari, who was elected from the constituency on NC ticket in 2002 elections. However, he resigned from the NC and the assembly seat last year.
Meanwhile sources said independent candidate Shoiab Lone, also supported by the NC and rebel PDP leaders, has established unbeatable lead in Sangrama constituency.
However, PDP candidate Mohammad Dilawar Mir was about 6000 votes ahead against his nearest NC candidate Advocate Mohammad Maqbool Mir.
Mr Dilawar got 19370 votes while Mir 13697 votes at the end of the six round.
