Committee to check sexual harassment
Shillong, Apr 27 : The Meghalaya government has instituted a committee to inquire into complaints of sexual harassment of women at workplaces, even as the state has an enviable record of low crime rates against the fair sex.
The committee will take up complaints of sexual harassment at shops, factories and other commercial establishments, a statement from the Commissioner and Secretary of the Labour Department said here today.
The committee, chaired by the state Labour Commissioner, comprises Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories, Director of Industries, Chairperson of the Social Welfare Advisory Board, Nursing Superintendent and representative of different NGOs.
