CM describes Visakha bypoll victory as approval of Govt's policies
Hyderabad, April 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today described the Congress victory with a big margin in the byelection for the Visakhapatnam I Assembly constituency as people's approval of the policies being pursued by his Government.
Talking to reporters here, Dr Reddy said his Government was pursuing pro-people policies under the leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and endeared itself to the people. Recalling that he had not even campaigned in the constituency, he said people voted for the progressive policies of the Government.
Congratulating the PCC President Dr K Keshava Rao, who led the campaign of the party and the local party leadership for the victory, the Chief Minister said the Congress would live up to the expectations of people.
Dr Reddy said the voters of Visakhapatnam had rejected the opposition TDP though it had tried to encash on the firing at the Gangavaram port and played other gimmicks.
PCC President Keshava Rao described the victory as reflection of the confidence the people have on the Congress party.
