Werder's Micoud banned for grabbing Poulsen's groin
BERLIN, Apr 26 (Reuters) Werder Bremen playmaker Johan Micoud has been given a three-match ban for grabbing Schalke 04's Danish defender Christian Poulsen in the groin during their 0-0 draw at the weekend.
Bremen's commercial manager Klaus Allofs today said the club would challenge the ruling by the German Football Association (DFB) against Frenchman Micoud.
Television replays showed how Micoud, while arguing with one Schalke player in front of him, reached behind with his left hand towards Poulsen's genitals. Poulsen then collapsed to the ground, holding his midsection.
