Students' ire at inclusion of 'Doosari Radha' in varsity papers
Ranchi, Apr 26 (UNI) Ranchi University Vice-Chancellor A A Khan today said he would convene an emergency meeting of the examination board and take appropriate action against persons responsible for including immodest and unusual questions in the general knowledge paper of BA part III examination.
Dr Khan's assurance came amid strong protest from students and intellectuals over inclusion of some unusual questions in the general knowledge paper yesterday.
To the embarrassment of the examinees, the paper included questions like naming the ex I G P of Jharkhand involved in a sex scandal with a tribal girl, the name of the former I G P of Uttar Pradesh who claimed to be 'Radha' and name of the police inspector who got life imprisonment for killing a school teacher.
''I was totally unaware of the questions. My duty is to appoint the question setters only. But how they set the questions is completely their discretion. Moreover, in our university we do not have a moderation board to check the paper beforehand to prevent any possible leak. So I could not see the questions. Now that the fault has come to notice, I will soon convene the meeting of examination board and take appropriate action in this regard,'' Dr Khan told UNI. Meanwhile, some academicians in the city have lodged strong protest against the incident. Putting a question mark before the examination pattern of the university they reminded the board that one such unusual question about naming the husband of actor Raveena Tandon was also included in a question paper last year.
