Men still hesitant to undergo sterilisation in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Apr 26 (UNI) Men in Rajasthan are still hesitant to go in for sterilisation under the state-sponsored 'Family Planning' scheme.

The 2005-06 figures reveal that 2,29862 families underwent sterilisation, out of which only 6,442 men came forward while 2,23420 women readily underwent the operation.

The medicine experts say it is more important for men to undergo sterilisation operation rather than women.

Experts say Rajasthan still suffers from the mentality that men undergoing such operations will suffer in their sex life and may even lose their physical strength to an extent.

There is a need to integrate the issue with family and society to bring in more awareness, feel health experts.
