Hundreds of devotees participate in temple festival
Srirangam, Apr 26 (UNI) Hundreds of devotees from various parts of the state thronged the historic ''Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple'', the foremost among the 108 ''Divyadesama'' to participate in the annual ''Chithirai Therottam'' (Temple car festival) here today.
The devotees, braving scorching sun, led by S Jayaraman, joint commissioner of state Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, pulled the decorated temple car in which the procession deity ''Lord Namperumal'' was mounted, Chanting ''Ranga Ranga''.
It took nearly four hours for the temple car to reach its destination, after being taken around the four important chithirai streets around the temple. Special poojas were organised to the presiding diety Lord Ranganatha Swamy in connection with the car festival.
