Gill, Chhattisgarh Chief Sec meets Home Sec to discuss naxalism
New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Mr K P S Gill, the newly appointed advisor to the Chhattisgarh Government, along with state chief secretary met Home Secretary V K Duggal today to discuss the naxalite menace in the state.
They deliberated on the steps to be taken to combat naxalism in the state. Chhattisgarh has the maximum naxalite activity in the country. The number of casualties in the naxal attacks in the state is also the highest. The state had recently appointed Mr Gill to advise the state administration in effectively combating naxalism.
The state government attributes the high level of naxal related deaths to the peoples movement 'Selva Judum' against the naxal attacks. They say the state government is taking effective steps and is also planning to consolidate the peoples movement to check the spread of naxalism in the tribal dominated state.
Chhattisgarh government has also resorted to appointing ex-servicemen in training the state police and people in demining of areas. It is also trying to modernise its police force and fill all the vacancies to fight naxalism in the state.
The state government has been seeking helicopters from the centre for the immediate evacuation of people injured in the naxal attacks to the hospitals in cities and towns to save the lives of civilians injured in these attacks.
