Ganguly, Sandipan aim for a good result in Chess Olympiad

Kolkata, Apr 26 (UNI) Grandmasters Surya Sekhar Ganguly and Sandipan Chanda today said a good result at the Chess Olympiad, to be held in Turin in Italy from May 20, was the only thing in their mind.

They were speaking to reporters at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Alekhine Club here.

When Surya Sekhar Ganguly became the national champion for the third consecutive year and Sandipan took the second spot, they created a record of completing a hattrick.

Sandipan said they will go for a camp to Goa from April 28 where they will be trained by a Spanish Grandmaster E Uvilova.

''We will not only focus on the technical aspects but also on the mental side of the game,'' he said.

When Ganguly was asked what were the other future tournaments he was planning to take part in after the Olympiads, he said '' Our full focus is on the Chess Olympiad for now.'' He said the team will revolve around Vishwanathan Anand for a good show in the competition. The other members in the team are P Harikrishna, Sashikaran, besides Ganguly and Sandipan.

India bagged sixth position in the Chess Olympiad in the last edition.
