Court rejects Dawood aides' bail plea; remands to judicial custody
Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) A local court today rejected bail applications of Praveen Sultana and Saijad Khan, aides of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, and remanded them to judicial custody till May five in counterfeit currency case.
Opposing the bail plea, police prosecutor Tahir Trabakwala said investigations were yet to be completed and some people were still absconding.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode said it was premature to grant bail as the investigations were in progress.
Investigating officer S Talekar said fake Indian currency in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 worth Rs 12.5 lakh had been recovered from their possession.
The accused, during interrogation, had revealed the names of some more accomplices who were yet to be traced..
Sultana was arrested from Hyderabad earlier this month and fake currency worth Rs 10 lakh was recovered from her possession, while Rs 2.5 lakh counterfeit currency was seized from Saijad Khan.
