CBI arrests woman ITO, former NIFT registrar
New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) A city court sent a woman Income Tax Officer and a former Registrar of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to judicial custody till May 6.
The CBI has charged Durgesh Kumari, ITO and former NIFT Registrar O P Sharma with bribery and fraud after they found guilty during investigations, according to the CBI.
While Ms Kumari, ITO at Vikas Bhawan here was arrested while accepting Rs 2,500 bribe from an insurance agent to pass an order for allowing a refund, Sharma was found guilty of causing a loss of Rs 4.5 lakh to NIFT by falsely claiming lease rent.
Cash, valuables and property worth several lakhs were seized during raids at their official and residential premises.
