Canon India unveils roadmap to get market leadership
Chennai, Apr 26 (UNI) Canon India Private Limited, a complete imaging company, today unveiled its roadmap to attain market leadership in digital cameras and digital copiers by the end of this year.
Addressing a press conference after rolling out Canon's 36 new products across categories, Mr Alan Grant, President and CEO, Canon India, said with design, engineering and innovation as strongholds, the company was well on the path of attaining leadership.
The company decided to make a surge towards leadership based on a three-pronged approach, creating an industry benchmark with new technology in the latest product range, entry into high volume print and publishing market and enhanced focus on the southern market.
The first facet of the new strategy was the gamut of products launched today, which comprised digital cameras, digital SLR, digital video camcorders, selphy, inkjet and laser printers and laser fax.
Mr Alok Bharadwaj, Vice-President, Canon India said the company had already achieved tremendous succcess, registering a 35 per cent growth (overall) and 267 per cent in the digital camera business, with 26 per cent market share.
During this year, the company proposed to expand the Canon X'perience zones from two to 12, Canon digital zones from 31 to 100 and Canon IT imaging zones from 140 to 300 and total number of dealership from 2500 to 4000, involving total investment of Rs 30 crore, he added.
The company was looking at the Rs 250 crore digital video market and all set to enter the high-end print and publishing industry.
'The biggest opportunity in printing lies in the publishing industry,' he added.
