Ambika Soni to inaugurate Taj Mahal's premiere show in Pakistan

Wagha (Amritsar), Apr 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Mrs Ambika Soni today crossed over to Pakistan from this border check post to inaugurate the premier show of Hindi movie 'Taj Mahal, an eternal love story', in which Sonia Jahan, the grand daughter of former Pakistani singer and actress Noor Jahan in the lead role of 'Mumtaz'.

Talking to newspersons at this check post, Mrs Soni advocated the exchange of culture and other activities between the two neighbouring countries.

She said ''today they are going to inaugurate an Indian movie in Pakistan and soon Pakistani movies would be shown in Indian cinema halls.'' She said both-India and Pakistan would open visa centre at Amritsar and Lahore as the demand to visit the other country, by their citizens, would increase.

Accompanied by Congress Member of Parliament Rajiv Shukla, Mrs Soni said that viewers gallery at Wagha should be given a new shape for the comfort of the people, who arrives here from various parts of the country to see the retreat ceremony. Funds has also been earmarked for the overall development of the region, she added.

She also directed Punjab Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Jagmohan Singh Kang to identify places of historic and tourist importance in Amritsar for its development.

Mr Kang told newspersons he hoped Amritsar will sonn become a tourism hub and added the Centre had released Rs eight crore for the development of tourism in the region.
