Prime Minister's principal secretary visits naxalite areas
Ranchi, Apr 25 (UNI) A high level central team today visited the naxalite-affected areas of Jharkhand's Latehar district to assess the ground realities.
Leading a five-member central government official team the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary T K A Nair, went to Chateri village where he told the people that his team was on a two day visit to study the law and order situation and development of the state.
He has advised the villagers of the district to conserve water, dig ponds and construct dams under the 'Food for Work' programme before the monsoon. He had also asked them to send their children to school.
Mr Nair was accompanied among others by state Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Mandal.
Later, Mr Nair, in a meeting with Chief Minister Arjun Munda, had a detailed discussion on the prevailing situation in the state. He held a meeting with the senior state government and police officials yesterday and assessed the steps taken by the government to counter the Naxalites.
Returning to New Delhi this evening, Mr Nair would submit a report to the Centre.
