No one influenced the Commission: Kuldeep
Shimla, Apr 25 (UNI) Delimitation Commission of India's (DCI) Chairman Kuldeep Singh today denied that Himachal Pradesh government was trying to influence its functioning, saying the meeting of the peoples' representatives with the Commission should not be seen in such a manner.
Addressing mediapersons after the third and last phase of public hearing here, he said no one from the state government had influenced the functioning of the Commission.
Without naming anyone, Mr Singh said had this been true the country's Home Minister's parliamentray seat and the chief minister's assembly seat would not have been reserved.
MLAs and other public representatives meet us to put forth their view on the delimitation and that in no way should be seen as an attempt to influence the Commission, he said.
The Himachal's delimitation report would be ready by late June or early July, along with four other states, he said and hoped that the next assembly elections would be held on its recommendations.
Referring to the major issues discussed in the day-long public hearing of the Commission today, he said, apart from the reservation and de-reservation of some of the assembly constituencies of the state, while the Theog and Kumarsain issues figured prominently in the meeting.
Justice Singh said nearly 200 public objections and grievances were received today and while the largest number of suggestions were received from Shimla district.
In all nearly 1,000 suggestions and public objections were received during the three-day public hearing of the Commission in various parts of the state, he said.
