NABARD disbursement in Gujarat up by 23 pc to Rs 1,808 cr in 2005-06

Ahmedabad, Apr 25 (UNI) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) disbursed Rs 1,808 crore to Gujarat in 2005-06, which was 23 per cent higher than last year.

Similarly, NABARD Chief General Manager Bhawar Puri told news persons here today that crop loan (called production cradit) disbursed through Co-operative Banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) rose by 11 per cent to Rs 670 crore from Rs 605 crore over the same period.

Under Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIDF), he said that Rs 858 crore was disbursed last year to implement 502 projects, mostly pipeline and canals for drinking water, irrigation, checking salinity ingress, check dams and inter basin transfer.

Giving sectorwise details, he said, the bank provided assistance of Rs 278.77 crore under investment credit and Rs 88 crore to State Horticulture Mission.

Notonly this, NABARD has disbursed Rs 14.55 crore credit-linked disbursement to Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Rs 2.22 crore refinance to banks, Rs 3.70 crore for micro finance to Friends of Women World Banking.

The bank also released Rs 17.06 crore subsidy to 'cold storages' creating additional capacity of 2.60 lakh tonnes (total project cost being Rs 102 crore) and Rs 7.63 crore subsidy to 'rural godowns' (total project cost being Rs 59.92 crore), creating additional capacity of 2.86 lakh tonnes.
