Left parties warn UPA Govt of support withdrawal

Hyderabad, Apr 25: The Left parties today cautioned it would withdraw support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government if they continued to adopt 'anti-people' policies and succumbed to the US pressure on nuclear deal.

Talking to newspersons here, CPI National Executive Committee Member and MP S Sudhakar Reddy said the UPA Government was still under the US pressure and supporting the Iran issue, Nuclear deal with the US can be termed as the 'anti'-independent foreign policy, he added.

Alleging that the UPA was also trying to disinvest from PSUs and Navaratna companies, Mr Reddy said the Left parties were opposing the economic and foreign policies adopted two years ago.

Expressing confidence that the Left Democratic Front(LDF) would come to power in Kerala with absolute majority, he said the Congress would be weakened in the state and Left Front would emerge as a strong coalition by winning 75 per cent seats.

Mr Reddy said the Left parties would retain power in West Bengal for the record seventh time, and the DMK-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Front would win the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
