Kanchi mutt to open Veda Patshaalas in K'taka
Madikeri Apr 25: The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham will be opening 'Veda Paatshaalas' at Kollur, Bangalore and Honnavar in Karnataka by June, Mutt Head Sri Jayendra Saraswathi informed today.
Talking to UNI at Talacauvery, the senior pontiff said students above the age of eight would be provided free education and lodging facilities at the 'Paatshalas.' He said apart from Veda, the students would also be taught computers and English.
Asked whether spirituality was on the decline in the country, the seer said it was on the rise and quipped ''Vyadi bandre Vaidya beku, Kashta bandre Devru beku.'' (You need a doctor when illness strikes, You need God when hurdles come.) Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, along with his disciples, arrived at Bhagamandala last night on a private visit. Immediately on his arrival, he performed pooja at the Bhagandeshwara temple there.
