Group to overview rehabilitation and resettlement of outsees

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) An Oversight Group, constituted by the Prime MInister to report on status of rehabilitation of the outsees of the Sardar Sarovar project in Madhya Pradesh, will ascertain whether all measures of rehabilitation, resettlement and civic amenities conform to the Supreme Court Award.

As per the 'terms of reference', the group will ascertain by taking into account the state government's reports and the number of families affected due to subermgence caused by the raising of height of the dam.

Also, estimate will be made on the basis of sample checks, the number of project affected families (PAFs) who may not have received so far in full measure the rehabiliation and resettlement (R and R) package as per the norms laid down by the Award and orders of the apex court.

The group will also ascertain on the basis of sample checks , if such offers were voluntarily refused by such outsees who preferred to accept the Special Rehabilitation Package of the Madhya Pradesh government.

It will also ascertain on the basis sample checks, if offers of alternate land to eligible outsees were made in a fair and transparent manner.

Besides, the group will recommend a system to ensure that all families affected by the increase in height of the dam to 121.92 metres receive within the next three months, the benefit of the Relief and Rehabilitation Package as per the norms laid down by the Award, the orders of Supreme Court and the orders of the Grievance redressal authority of Madhya Pradesh.
