Foreign investors at bay if LDF voted to power: Poojary

Kozhikode, Apr 24 (UNI) Foreign investors would not venture into Kerala if the CPI (M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) came to power in the state as they pursued politics of violence and anti-development, senior Congress leader B Janardana Poojary today said.

Addressing a meet-the-press programme here, he said ''who will dare to invest in a state where many were people massacred brutally because of internecine political rivalry.'' He was referring to the revenge killings between CPI(M) and RSS in Kannur district during the LDF rule.

The economic development was in shambles during their term as the E K Nayanar government often depended on overdraft to clear even the treasury bills, Mr Poojary recollected.

Stating that there was no leader worth projecting as Chief Minister in the LDF, he said opposition leader V S Achuthanandan was familiar as an ''anti-development'' personality as he opposed all progressive schemes while his party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan's name figured in the huge wastage caused in the award of three power projects to a Canadian firm SNC Lavalin.

The situation would not be any different if the LDF came back to power as no foreign investors, including multinationals, would entertain any idea of coming to the state which was unsafe.

Quoting newspaper reports, he accused the LDF of deploying children for poll campaign, which he said was violative of Election Commission's norms.
