Bandh hits life in parts of Asom
Kokrajhar, Apr 25 (UNI) An NDFB sponsored 24-hour Asom bandh to protest arrest of its cadres paralysed life in several parts of the state today.
According to reports, the bandh was complete in three districts- Kokrajhar, Chirang and Bongaigaon- which the National Democratic Front of Bodoland has strong base.
The bandh was called to protest the arrest of its eight cadres in Guwahati on Saturday on charges of extortion.
No untoward incident had been reported from any part of the state so far, district authorities informed.
All educational institutions and commercial establishments, including banks remained closed throughout the three districts.
Vehicles remained off the roads with inter-state buses and other vehicles provided with police escort.
The bandh also affected life in some other parts of the state.
The NDFB-Centre's year-long cease fire agreement is due to expire on May 31.
The militant group has alleged neglect of the peace process by the Union government and threatened to walk out of the dialogue.
