50 villagers abducted, one jawan killed by naxals
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 25 (UNI) Naxalites today abducted around 50 villagers and killed one jawan in two separate incidents in Dantewada district, police said.
According to preliminary reports, the ultras abducted the villagers for participating in anti-naxal 'Salwa Judum' campaign at Manikota village, 150 km from this district headquarters.
The villagers, who hailed from Doranpal village, had been put up at a camp and had gone to Manikota village for making purchases.
Sub-divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Arvind Kumar Kujur said security forces had been dispatched to the spot for getting the villagers released.
In a separate incident, naxals today killed a Naga Battalion jawan, Pupan Tiba (26), in an encounter at Gogapura village, about five km from Bijapur Police District. The injured jawan was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed.
The encounter took place when the battalion was heading to Pariharpara village when the ultras attacked them.
